Job & Career
1. What do you do? Are you an engineer?
2. I am a federal employee. I work for the State Department.
3. Finding a good job is not easy these days.
4. As soon as I graduate, I'm going to be an accountant.
5. I have built up my own business. Now I own a hotel.
6. I take great pride in my work. I am always very efficient.
7. I have a good-paying job with excellent benefits and working conditions.
8. My uncle was just promoted to vice-President of the company.
9. I've worked as a lawyer for eight years.
10. I enjoy my job though I work long hours.
11. I have been working in this company since graduation.
12. Have you ever thought about a career in business?
13. Guess it's time to look for a job.
14. Do you have an opening for a teller?
15. Can you tell me more about this position?
16. I must know more about your work experience.
17. Myspoken English is fluent, and my reading is pretty good.
18. Why have you decided to change jobs?
19. Why should I hire you?
20. If you're hired, how long can you work here?
What do you do? Are you an engineer?
What's you job?'
I am a federal employee. I work for the State Department.
补充一句,我为哪个单位工作,I work for …” 。
例如:I am a government employee. I work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
I am a manager. I work for a very big car factory.
foreign company 外企;
joint-venture 合资公司;
SOE (state owned enterprise)
multinational 跨国公司;
Finding a good job is not easy these days.
As soon as I graduate, I'm going to be an accountant.
As soon as I graduate, I'm going to be an English teacher/ software engineer/ doctor/ government employee.
I have built up my own business. Now I own a hotel.
Jason has built up his own business. Now he owns a spoken English trainingcenter.
I take great pride in my work. I am always very efficient.
Take pride in sth.
等你终于拿到美国大学的全奖,你的老爸一定会得意地说, 'I am proud of you, son.' 或者说, 'Son, I am proud of your great success!'
I have a good-paying job with excellent benefits and working conditions.
My uncle was just promoted to vice-President of the company.
Prof. Yang was just promoted to vice-chairman of English Department.
I've worked as a lawyer for eight years.
I've worked as a English teacher for two years.
I've worked as a newsman since my graduation.
I've worked as a sales manager for five years.
I enjoy my job though I work long hours.
Enjoy
I enjoy movies.
I enjoy watching TV in the evening.
I enjoy reading the newspaper in the morning.
Work long hours 的意思就是“长时间地工作” ,如果是“加班” ,则用 work overtime这个短语。
例如,If you work in this company, you'll have to work overtime at least two times a week.
I love my job.
I enjoy my work.
I'm proud of my company.
I take great pride in my achievement.
I have been working in this company since graduation.
Mr. Lu has worked in New Oriental School for over two years.
Last year, Jane worked in a joint venture, and now she works for a foreign company.
Have you ever thought about a career in business?
Have you ever thought about a career in …?
Have you ever thought about a career in education?
Have you ever thought about a career in writing?
Guess it's time to look for a job.
注意句型结构: it's time to do something 表示: 应该着手做某件事,到了....
It's time to study hard. It's time to launch new projects.
It's time to start the meeting. It's time to have a break.
也有 it's time for something 的结构, for 后面直接加对象名词
It's time for a break. It's time for breakfast.
Do you have an opening for teller?
Do you have an opening for ……? Do you have an openning for secretary / reporter/ editor / salesman?
Can you tell me more about this position?
Could you tell me more about ……?
比如在教育展上, 你对一所美国大学产生了兴趣, 你就可以问,“Could you tell me moreabout your school ? 如果你要买一辆汽车,在买之前得斟酌再三,你最好向销售人员问这么一句,“Could you tell me more about this car? ”
I must know more about your work experience.
对了,是 work experience!
I have got rich work experience. 要是对方期望你能够比较详细地介绍你的工作经验的话,他会问你, “Could you tell me more about your work experience? ”这时候你的回答当然是,“Sure.”My spoken English is fluent, and my reading is pretty good.
“What's your English level ? ”
My spoken English is very fluent, and my reading and writing are pretty good.
Why have you decided to change jobs?
Why should I hire you?
If you're hired, how long can you work here?
If my capacity can be recognized, I will surely work a long-term.

Mr. Robert: Than all I can say is I wish you good luck! If you need a letter of reference, I will be
glad to write one for you.
